Sounds more like crappy firmware to me. This is not the first SSD to suffer from a crippling frimware flaw that is impossible to fix.
I lost almost an entire computer lab of Dells thanks to the goddamn Sandforce firmware. One that the company acknowledged but refused to lift a finger to fix.
