Your idea of the timeline does not match my experience. The normal engagement length is two weeks. (One week is a possibility, and I was on an engagement that was four weeks, but that was unusual.) In the one-week or two-week case, the final Thursday was devoted to writing the report, and the final Friday was devoted to presenting it. It would have been very unusual to spend 50% of total time on writing the report, though for something this high-profile (I was never on something similar) I wouldn't be shocked.

At the meeting where I was fired, they assured me that my benefits would not end immediately and would instead continue through the end of the month, despite the fact that it was October 31.
