Actually no. I had been in their IRC for some time during the first couple weeks of the Wikileaks leaks, and it isn't like that. They are a group that, just like any other, like HN, have certain common and shared values and talk, discuss and act by them. In their case, basicly, they are pro free-speech, pro internet and privacy.

They, like we here in HN, organize themselves around those ideas. Sometimes they act together against someone that goes against their values, like they just did to Aaron, and sometimes they act towards other positive goals like they did in Egypt. It is not about being cool, having fun or anything like that. That is just one of the ways they attract kids and other people to join them in their attacks and other actions. There is no central leadership, no hierarchy, but all their actions are done following certain values and ethics that you cannot really grasp unless you are part of it, just like HN.

Although they don't have leaders, at least in their IRC, there are moderators, that, at least during the leaks, when there were over 3 thousand people in a single IRC channel, would lock the channel, summarize arguments, add questions and unlock it, while they were selecting targets. But usually that only happened when there were that many people and too many trolls spamming the chat.

They are people, from all ages that act by their shared values.

Wow, just wow... Not only Asana surprised me as aparently an awesome productivity tool that I hope I might use in my start-up really soon, but the bunch of stupid comments here also surprised me.

The video is long, but you can get a good grasp of the product in the first few minutes. The rest of the video is in-depth discussion on how they started thinking of how to do it, how they think they will reach the companies and also inner workings on how the software work.

Can you explain why you would use this over, say, Redmine or Basecamp?

Sebastian Marshall's blog is realy great. He inspired me to start tracking my time on a daily basis, and I am certainly benefiting from it.

Here is an introduction page that he posted for newcomers: http://www.sebastianmarshall.com/?page_id=288 You can see that there is many topics under "Want to get more done?"

Though I know that most books are a waste of time, these were actually filled with great information, in my opinion:

lol, I hadn't seen he was the OP.. Sorry...

Congrats for the launch! Sweet project =)

Can't wait for being able to edit/delete crates. Would be nice too to be able to edit profile.

By the way, Let's Crate email list that I subscribed to a couple days ago failed to send me any news at all, if I hadn't checked here I wouldn't see the launch.

We haven't used the list yet, as we want to open it up super slowly and the hundreds of people on the list would be too much. Editing/deleting crates should be implemented today/tomorrow!

Editing your profile is unessential right now, but it'll be coming soon too.

Thanks! We're super excited too.

More features are in the pipeline. Working on some of 'em right now. :)

This kind of market is usually called Multi-Sided Markets. It is hard to help without knowing more details about the product, but Harvard Business Review has a great article on it, which should help you with your issue: http://hbr.org/2006/10/strategies-for-two-sided-markets/ar/1

Here is another article that might be useful: http://www.strategy-business.com/article/03301?gko=16442

Since I was a kid I have been thinking of what is my mission here on Earth. Today I got a pretty good idea of what I want to do in this world, so after I've decided that, I have now been struggling to set goals in the short/mid/long term till I reach that ultimate goal.

One might say plans are useless, but that isn't true. I find myself changing them from time to time, but they are the best tool I have to manage my time and life and check on my progress to reach the dream I have.

All I do is keep checking on them and constantly thinking if they need change or what progress I am having. Everyday I spend at least a few minutes reflecting on them.

This is a good example of goals: http://www.sebastianmarshall.com/?p=84

I have thought for ages of something like this, but instead of usb drivers, a wifi box with a big harddisk. You would connect to the wireless network, open browser at 192.168.0.1 and instead of a router's page, you would get to a website, with a nice interface, where you could select the files you wanted to download or upload others.

I even did some drawing and thought of solar pannels and batteries to keep it going non-stop. What demotivated me was the fact I'm living in Brazil and normal filesharing is still much easier and non-risky...

Anyway, a wifi box like this would be much more secure if done right. A complementary idea I also thought of was to make the boxes communicate with each other, much like a cloud you could access from any reachable access point.

An interesting idea would be using client computers to synchronize boxes automatically in the background.

It could do virus scans. So thats a bonus. Maybe if this project works that could be next.

Don't wireless networks know the other parties MAC IDs?

they know whatever MAC address you're using at the time, sure. if that happens to be 06:66:de:ad:b3:3f, then anyone later inspecting the logs will probably be disappointed.

that would be really nice!

One day we couldn't customize computers, and now we can, I can't wait for the day I can customize my phone with the specs I choose, just like I did to my notebook.

Maybe it won't be this company who will succeed at doing it, maybe there will be lots of companies doing it, but I can certainly see that someday we will have this kind of option. I just hope it happens sooner than later.

Some day.

Look, aw3c2 wasn't saying there weren't ever going to be custom phones, but this company's been doing an awful lot of press work, only having a Photoshop mockup and website to show for it.

The picture of the circuit board isn't even a mobile phone circuit. The company's makes no mention of prototypes or any hardware engineering. I would expect to see this stuff for a company shipping Q1 2011.
